At Marble Mountain Kennels, we’ve been dedicated to Labrador Retriever breeding in California for over 28 years, raising intelligent, trainable, and loving dogs for families across the West Coast. But every great kennel has a beginning—and ours started with one very special dog.
Pete’s journey began with his first Labrador Retriever, Juneau, a chocolate female Lab, while living in Greenview in the beautiful Scott Valley.
At the time, Pete was serving as the director of Kidder Creek Camp, while also coaching various sports at local schools in the community.
It was during those years that something clicked.
Pete noticed that the kids who grew up on farms and ranches carried themselves differently—they were especially diligent, hardworking, and determined. They had a quiet confidence and work ethic that stood out.
And he wanted the same for his own children.
So what started as a small hobby—breeding and training Labrador Retrievers at home—was never really about building a business.
It was about building character.
What began as a simple family endeavor gradually grew into something much more.
Over the years, Marble Mountain Kennels evolved into a well-respected program focused on responsible Labrador Retriever breeding, training, and placement.
After retiring from his role at Kidder Creek Camp, Pete relocated the kennel to the Shasta Valley, just outside Yreka.
